Toucan

Toucan

Marty’s photo of the day #2150: Here’s a toucan that I photographed in Costa Rica. This photo is also featured in my latest book, “Endangered Edens: Exploring the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Costa Rica, the Everglades, and Puerto Rico.”

Fur Seal

Fur Seal

Marty’s photo of the day #2149: Here’s one of my favorite fur seal photos. I took it on an island off the coast of Antarctica. These seals almost went extinct, due to over-hunting. Fortunately, international protection arrived just in time, and the seals have made a nice comeback.

Martyman does Bull Durham

Martyman does Bull Durham

Marty’s photo of the day #2147: If you remember where we left off yesterday, Martyman had a new body, and was getting his clothes washed. This morning, before I put Martyman’s clean clothes back on him, he insisted that I take this picture of him, impersonating Ebby Calvin “Nuke” LaLoosh, from his favorite movie, Bull […]

Martyman cleans up his act

Martyman cleans up his act

Marty’s photo of the day #2146: If you remember where we left off yesterday, Martyman had taken a terrible fall and broken off both of his legs. Fortunately, years ago, I bought a backup body, should something ever happen to the original. As long as we were starting with a new Martyman body, I decided […]

Martyman loses his legs

Martyman loses his legs

Marty’s photo of the day #2145: Oh, nooooooooooo! Martyman and I were setting up a shot this morning (it was going to be really funny), when our hero lost his grip and fell from the back of a chair and broke off both of his legs. But don’t worry fans. We can rebuild him. We […]

Burton’s legless lizard

Burton’s legless lizard

Marty’s photo of the day #2144: Here’s a Burton’s legless lizard that I photographed in Queensland, Australia. Why isn’t this a snake? It has external ear-openings, little skin flaps near its cloaca—where it used to have legs before it evolved—and if you grabbed its tail, the tail would fall off.

The Cactus-climbing starfish

The Cactus-climbing starfish

Marty’s photo of the day #2142: The rare and endangered cactus-climbing starfish was, perhaps, my best find last year while hiking on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. Very few people ever get the chance to see this unusual animal in the wild, as they’re quite shy. Also, as a photographer, I had to approach with caution. Spooking […]

You don’t want to fund Planned Parenthood? I don’t want to fund the wall!

You don’t want to fund Planned Parenthood? I don’t want to fund the wall!

Republicans prefer to spend money on things like further bloating our military, their damn wall, and tax cuts for the rich (which steals from government services that benefit us all). Democrats prefer to spend money on things like renewable energy, public education, the National Endowment for the Arts, and Planned Parenthood. Why should only Republicans […]

Martyman does New Orleans

Martyman does New Orleans

Marty’s photo of the day #2132: I wasn’t sure what I was going to post this morning. Then, as I looked through the photos on my hard drive, I came across this one from when we took Martyman to New Orleans. Martyman, of course, had a blast. He picked up this little dolly and danced […]

Kellyanne Conway was right!

Kellyanne Conway was right!

Marty’s photo of the day #2124: Oh, my God! Trump spokesperson Kellyanne Conway was right! Martyman spent all day yesterday punching different combinations of numbers on our microwave. Finally he struck gold: an entire nest of cameras materialized inside! Sorry, Kellyanne. I never should have doubted you.

The Microwave Camera!

The Microwave Camera!

As a photographer, I’m always looking for unique camera equipment. According to Donald Trump’s spokesperson, Kellyanne Conway, one of the ways President Obama and others could have spied on Donald Trump was through “microwaves that turn into cameras.” I’ve been looking at my microwave, and I see popcorn, beverage, baked potato, and beverage buttons, but […]

Fox and deer

Fox and deer

Marty’s photo of the day #2123: As mentioned yesterday, Deb and I were out hiking in our backyard (we have a very big backyard), when I found a dead deer. The deer was frozen solid, so I moved it to an open spot in the forest and set up my motion-sensing camera. Initially the action […]

Coyote and deer

Coyote and deer

Marty’s photo of the day #2122: I think I’m going to have some impressive, albeit gross, photos to show you over the next few weeks. About a month ago, Deb and I were out hiking in our backyard (we have a very big backyard), when I found a dead deer that I’m pretty sure a […]
