Marty’s photo of the day #3059: Yesterday’s photo of the day was about photos people had stolen from me. Today’s post is about the opposite. Back in 2016, Arturo Chávez, a well-known, award-winning painter from Taos, New Mexico, asked permission to use one of my zebra photos for a painting. I was honored to say “yes.” What you are looking at today is my original photo, which I call “Zebras at Sunset,” and Arturo’s painting of that photo, which he calls “Dancing on the Edge.”
I’m not sure what the painting ultimately sold for, but the 36” x 48” oil painting was priced at $17,000.00.
Wow!!! Thank you Marty. I always give you the credit for the success of my painting- “Dancing on the Edge”.
(see my website: arturochavez.com under the “figurative” tab.)
Today (August 7, 2021) I decided to go put on the web and checkout some of your latest photos, as I totally admire your work, and I’m pleased to say that you are an inspiration to me.
My best,
Arturo
