Meadow full of flowers
Marty’s photo of the day #3291: “Meadow full of flowers” shots are tough to do, because the flowers never show up as well on an image as they do to the naked eye. Here’s my attempt anyway. I photographed this last weekend, in western Montana, at an elevation of 6,500 feet.
A cold spotted frog
Marty’s photo of the day #3290: Animals amaze me. This past weekend, Deb and I rented a Forest Service cabin in the mountains that sat at about 6,500 feet. While lower elevations in Montana saw a comfortable weekend, there were times we were shivering—even while wearing multiple layers of clothes. In fact, a snowstorm hit […]

Hogan Cabin
Marty’s photo of the day #3288: I just got back from a weekend at Hogan Cabin, a Forest Service rental. Being a way from the internet for almost two days was a nice break, but with the Trump rally on Saturday night, I was wondering if perhaps we’d come home and find that Civil War […]
Castillo de Alburquerque

Chacma baboon
Marty’s photo of the day #3283: This is a chacma baboon, photographed in Zimbabwe. When full-grown, males weigh seventy or more pounds, and females weigh half that. Experts are divided as to whether chacmas are a subspecies of the savannah baboon or a species unto themselves. Either way, they’re the world’s largest baboons.

The iguana fix
Marty’s photo of the day #3281: I haven’t posted any photos from Puerto Rico for a while, so we’ll fix that right now with this iguana.
Borneo caterpillar
Marty’s photo of the day #3280: Here’s one of the more bizarre caterpillars you will ever see. Photographed on the island of Borneo.
Alaska Scenic
Marty’s photo of the day #3279: Today we go scenic, with a photo I took in Alaska, well north of the Arctic Circle.
Go volcano!
Marty’s photo of the day #3278: These are the remains of an old Norwegian whaling station on Deception Island, off the coast of Antarctica. Much of the station is now buried in ash and mud from multiple volcanic eruptions. Whaling is evil—go volcano!
