Marty’s photo of the day #4066: When Deb and I were in Venice, Italy in late 2018, I got to play reporter’s photographer at the Luigi Becilacqua workshop. There my wife interviewed a representative for an article she was writing for Handwoven Magazine. The velvet weaving workshop dates back to 1875, and their work is incredibly intricate and expensive. Their clients include the Kremlin and various castles throughout Europe. During our tour, I had a lot of fun trying to get the perfect artsy photograph. This is one of my favorites. Not only did my Luigi Becilacqua photos accompany Deb’s Handwoven Magazine article, but some will also appear in Deb’s new book, “Easy Weaving with Supplemental Warps,” which will be published by Schiffer Publishing on October 22.
