Marty’s photo of the day #2833: For most people, visiting the Amazon Rainforest during the rainy season is unthinkable. When I needed a very specific photo for my first book, “Cool Creatures, Hot Planet: Exploring the Seven Continents,” Deb and I returned to the Amazon for a rainy season visit. In comparing our dry season and rainy season adventures, it wasn’t necessarily the rain that made the rainy season uncomfortable (It’s a rainforest, so precipitation comes pretty much year-around anyway.), it was that the biting insects were much worse. On the other hand, it was cool to be able to kayak through the rainforest. I took this rainy season photo from my kayak. Had it been the dry season, I likely would have been in a small stream or even on dry ground.
