Marty’s photo of the day #4734: Yesterday, I read a story about Republican Governor Kristi Noem shooting Cricket, her 14-month-old wirehaired pointer, claiming she was “less than worthless” as a hunting dog. It reminds me of another almost certain Republican, Cody Roberts, who made national news a few weeks ago for chasing down a wolf with his snowmobile and then bringing the tortured animal to a bar to humiliate it further before ultimately shooting it.

Yes, cruelty is now a positive feature in the world of Republicans. The fuckers actually brag about it.

Today’s photo features Annie, one of the best dogs in the history of dogs (she died of cancer many years ago). Annie was a rescue animal from the Bitterroot Humane Association. She was the sweetest dog ever, and she was constantly by my side. Only three things bothered her: gunshots, sticks, and swimmable water. Even after being part of my family for long time, Annie would cower whenever someone picked up a stick. It wasn’t hard to piece together that, like Cricket, Annie was a failed hunting dog—only in her case, instead of someone shooting her, someone beat her with a stick for not doing her hunting duties properly. Yeah, cruelty is a feature of hunting too.

Need I say that there’s a significant chance I’d end up in jail, if I ever personally witnessed someone being cruel to a dog or a wolf?
