Marty’s photo of the day #2972: You are looking at the Jago River in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Here the river is frozen, but a few miles to the north, the river drops onto the Arctic Coastal Plain and begins to flow. That’s where Deb and I got into a canoe and paddled the forty mile journey to the Arctic Ocean.

You can read about our adventure in my second book, “Endangered Edens: Exploring the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Costa Rica, the Everglades, and Puerto Rico.”
