Marty’s photo of the day #2673: This is a female elephant seal, on an island off the coast of Antarctica. She looks sick—or like Brett Kavanaugh waking up after a night of light drinking—but she’s perfectly fine. She’s just in the midst of molting.
Marty’s photo of the day #2661: I climbed up a rocky hill on an Antarctica island to take this photo. This is a south polar skua, looking down on a gentoo penguin colony. What the skua intends to do isn’t pleasant from a human or penguin point of view. But hey, a bird’s gotta eat.

Marty’s photo of the day #2609: This is a leopard seal along the coast of Antarctica. While I have much closer shots of leopard seals, I like the feel of this one. Antarctica never got totally dark while we were there, and I took this shot during the twilight hours, when the colors were dreamlike.
