Marty’s photo of the day #3820: When Deb and I traveled to Europe for my first book, “Cool Creatures, Hot Planet: Exploring the Seven Continents,” we had no GPS, no cell phones, no hotel reservations, and no plans at all other than to meet a friend mid-trip in Switzerland for two days. We started in Spain, picked a spot on the map, headed for it, and so on. On the day of our wedding anniversary, we drove to the Bay of Biscay (on the Spanish side), with no idea if we’d find a place to spend the night. As events turned out, this was the view from our hotel room balcony that night. And for our wedding anniversary dinner—the best Paella on the planet!
The best way to do Europe
