Marty’s photo of the day #3491: I’ve always loved this photo of my wife, Deb. At the time I took it, we were at the Hotel Schwarzsee, high in the Swiss Alps, near the base of the Matterhorn. The only way to get to the tiny hotel was by gondola (cable car), and each night the gondola was turned off, essentially stranding us on the mountain. Here Deb was taking notes of whatever adventures we had that day. I did the same thing, but not nearly in the detail she did. Her notes came in quite handy for jogging my memory as I wrote my first book, “Cool Creatures, Hot Planet: Exploring the Seven Continents.”
Just last night the two of us were discussing how we can’t wait to get out and travel again. Our dogs Kate and Annie thoroughly enjoyed accompanying us on our adventure to the top of Canada for that book. They’re long gone, but our new dog, Nellie, would absolutely love to reprise that adventure. If Canada is willing, perhaps we’ll do that this coming September.
