Marty’s photo of the day #2297: I can’t remember anytime during my life where the United States has been simultaneously hit in so many directions by environmental disasters (thank the Republicans for voting against the environment at a 95% clip). If you are in the southern US, you have one huge hurricane following another. If you are in the western US, the air is so thick with smoke from forest fires that we are in perpetual twilight. Or, as Deb said, “It’s like living inside a cotton ball.”
This photo shows some of the ice Deb and I encountered while canoeing the Arctic Ocean. Those of you who aren’t in the west can enjoy the beauty of the ice and the calm ocean. Those of us in the west are now thinking: look at all that clean air!
