Marty’s photo of the day #4695: This is Eve, the World’s Most Famous Rainbow Boa. She’s 24 years old, and at over 7 feet long, she’s bigger than the maximum size listed in many species guides. Yesterday was feeding day for her and Adam and their daughter Lara Flynn Boa. I was out of large frozen hamsters, so yesterday the snakes had to dine on the large frozen mice I warm up for them as hors d’oeuvres when they’re feeling finicky.

As Queen of the Rainbow Boas, Eve always eats last, allowing her to eat her meal plus leftovers from the other two snakes. And yesterday was a good day for leftovers! Eve devoured 8 large mice in less than an hour.

Now it’s time for her to take a nice long soak in the pool!
