Marty’s photo of the day #4596: Deb and I traveled to Vancouver Island this past September only because extreme forest fires blocked our original trip to the very top of Canada. Partway through our Vancouver Island trip, I was still saying, “Since this will be the only time we’ll be here,” but by the time it was over, I was eager to return. From where we live in Montana, we can drive there in one long day, if we want. One of the surprises of Vancouver Island was the surfer beaches. I had never before had even the slightest interest in surfing, but I discovered how much I loved the challenge of photographing surfers. I had to anticipate what was going to happen before it happened to get the best action. And I know next time we go back, I’ll get even better shots, using what I learned the first time. So here’s another Vancouver Island surfer.
