So Donald Trump gave a speech yesterday in South Dakota about . . . the dangers of communism.
His speech follows an earlier Republican freakout about NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani doing the most communist thing in the history of the United States: suggesting that New York City residents set their air conditioners at 78 degrees to help prevent a heatwave blackout.
Have we gone back in time to 1954?
And when will Republicans ever learn that communism and democratic socialism are completely different things?
If Republicans are going to be so fucking stupid about different forms of government, the least they could do on this 4th of July is stop being hypocritical about socialism. That means not using anything socialist, including public schools, the police, public roads, Medicare, Social Security, or national parks.
Oh, and if Republicans start any fires due to the massive amount of fireworks they will be setting off tonight, they must be patriotic about it and put out the fire themselves. Fire departments are, after all, socialist.
It’s sad that Donald Trump and Republicans have hijacked the 250th Anniversary of America. When America celebrated its 200-year anniversary, President Gerald Ford wasn’t a fascist psychopath like Trump, allowing all Americans to celebrate together.
That’s okay. We can wait. In 930 days or sooner, the sane, anti-fascist portion of America will join the rest of the world in the biggest celebration since the end of World War II.
