When Deb and I stayed at the tiny two-cabin Raja Ampat Eco Lodge on the island of Waisai (Indonesian New Guinea), one of the recommended hikes was a precipitous and slippery climb through the rainforest to a panorama. Much of the hike had ropes for us to grab, keeping us from bloodying our shins if we fell. Along the way were wooden signs, encouraging us to go forward: “Almost there!” “Almost there. . . . For real this time!”

The first photo shows the view at the top. The second photo shows how the GPS on my smartwatch tracked our hike. Yeah, Deb and I both agree the watch nailed the steepness of the trail.
