Marty’s photo of the day #4796: I spent the morning hanging out my kitchen window—some 25 feet off the ground—photographing and filming the baby robins on their final hour in the nest atop an outdoor speaker. This is their last breakfast. Notice how mom/dad has counted out three berries for three chicks.
Minutes after shooting this photo, the first baby flew away. That’s when I switched to video mode to try and film the last two chicks taking off. I shoot videos in HD, so it didn’t take long to fill up my SD card, sending me running to find another card—all while hoping the last two chicks didn’t take off in the meantime. Fortunately, they waited. I will post the ultra-cute takeoff video later this morning.
