Marty’s photo of the day #4532: As mentioned yesterday, the first chapter of my first book, Cool Creatures, Hot Planet: Exploring the Seven Continents, takes place in Belize. The year was 2001, and during part of that trip we stayed at the Blackbird Resort on the Blackbird Caye (basically Gilligan’s Island). Just this morning, I officially booked a return trip to Blackbirds. Therefore, I have been reviewing the photos I took when Deb and I were there last time. This one is from a kayak outing on the side of the island opposite the resort. As my wife and I were discussing our return, I mentioned that we needed to try snorkeling on that side of the island too. Then I remembered the firm instructions we were given previously about not swimming or snorkeling on that side. That’s where all the American crocodiles live.
