Marty’s photo of the day #4742: This is a tiny section of the Duomo di Firenze in Florence. When in Italy, I spent quite a bit of time photographing and admiring the beautiful and spectacular architecture of Catholic Churches. At the same time, I couldn’t help but think about the more than 1 million child sexual molestations that have taken place in Catholic Church facilities worldwide and wonder, “Were any children molested here?” Years ago, few people other than church officials knew about what happened behind closed doors, but now that those molestations have been made public, I have difficulty understanding how anyone can support such an institution. My guess is that some people are just better at covering their eyes and ears than others.
I can’t help wondering . . .
