Marty’s photo of the day #4490: I photographed this gorgeous elk on Deb’s and my epic trip to the top of Canada for my first book, Cool Creatures, Hot Planet: Exploring the Seven Continents. For many months my wife and I have been planning routes and acquiring new gear to redo that adventure this fall. Unfortunately, the unprecedented fires in Canada are looking more and more like they will force us to cancel. Those fires have been going on for months, and I keep thinking the rains will come, but they never do. Entire towns are burning to the ground!
So this post is a big Fuck You to the Republican Party, who figured out how to manipulate Christian voters to support Ronald Reagan, who in turn set the party on an anti-environmental, global warming-denying bent that continues to this day. Sure, they aren’t the only ones responsible for Canada burning, Hawaii burning, and a hurricane headed for California, but no single entity deserves a higher percentage of the blame.
