Marty’s photo of the day #3349: Nellie, our nine-month-old rescue dog, has been with us for three weeks now. Since Deb and I were starting all over (after the last of our three elderly dogs died), we had some important decisions to make. Do we let Nellie onto the couch? Do we let Nellie climb into our laps? Do we let Nellie into our bed? Without other dogs around to influence her, she wouldn’t feel cheated if the older dogs got away with things that she couldn’t. This was a grand opportunity to hold firm and train the new dog to stay on the floor. . . . Yeah, right!
And I must say: our Sunday morning tradition of reading the newspaper on the front porch has grown significantly more complicated in the last few weeks.
