Marty’s photo of the day #3200: Back in the 1990s, I had a side business selling No Newt is Good Newt T-shirts and sweatshirts. When Newt Gingrich resigned as Speaker of the House in 1998, no one wanted the shirts anymore (or, to look at it more positively, the shirts worked!), and to this day I still have two big boxes of leftovers stuffed in a closet. Occasionally, I dig out some shirts for giveaways at charity events. I also took about twenty T-shirts down to the Amazon Rainforest to give to the Yagua children. The children, of course, knew nothing about Newt Gingrich, but they loved the shirts. I also hoped that someday a Republican politician would visit the area and see everyone in the shirts. One more thing: Look closely at the tree in the background. There’s a Yagua boy hiding, too shy for a photo.
