Marty’s photo of the day #2838: I have a relative who is everything Donald Trump. Arguing with her is fruitless, but you would think some right-wing conspiracy theories would be so obviously wrong that even right-wingers could see it. One of the conspiracy theories she argues for is that Rachel Carson’s book “Silent Spring” was wrong and that DDT should never have been banned. My relative is old enough to remember when bald eagles were so rare, they were practically never seen. Now that DDT is no longer being pumped into the environment, bald eagles have made a wonderful comeback. I see them flying past my writing room window practically every day, and this one has a nest near my house. Yet even with evidence flying into their faces, my relative and others in the cult of Republicanism can’t see the benefits of banning DDT.
The Republican love affair with DDT
