Marty’s photo of the day #4085: During last year’s vacation at the American Prairie Reserve (in central Montana), I was able to capture some outstanding prairie dog images. Midway through this year’s five-day-stay, I was getting discouraged. The prairie dogs seemed more skittish than the previous year—although having Nellie, a very active actual dog with me didn’t help matters. Then, finally, I found a prairie dog that was a bit more willing to stay aboveground as I slowly crawled towards its burrow. I still used a telephoto lens, of course, but if I say so myself, this photo is a whisker better than my favorite prairie dog photo from the previous year.
