Marty’s photo of the day #3453: This is a stark picture—as it should be. I took this photo inside the partially flooded caldera of a volcano. Also known as Deception Island, for years the caldera provided shelter for whalers. Fortunately, Mother Nature took care of those fuckers with multiple volcanic eruptions. Whale bones, like this one, remind visitors of the past carnage.

Deception Island is located 125 miles off the Antarctica coast.
