Marty’s photo of the day #2926: I rarely post on sports, but Deb and I have been Minnesota Twins fans ever since we lived in Minneapolis. We have some great memories, including attending game 7 of the 1991 World Series and screaming our lungs out as Jack Morris pitched the Twins to a 10-inning shutout victory. This photo is of Max Kepler in 2014. I was on a college speaking tour that took me through Chattanooga, Tennessee, and I had a night off between gigs. Coincidently, the Chattanooga Lookouts (the Twins’ AA team) was playing the final game of the Southern League Championship. I got tickets behind home plate to watch Jorge Polanco (now the Twins shortstop and current American League batting average leader) and Max Kepler lead the Lookouts to victory.

Max Kepler smashed a massive home run in that game, but last night vs. the Boston Red Sox, he was a bigger hero: knocking in a run in the 8th inning to send the game into extra innings, hitting a home run in the 13th inning to keep the Twins from losing, and finally knocking in the winning run in the 17th inning.
