Marty’s photo of the day #4448: I photographed this howler monkey baby in Costa Rica. I love the reaching-out hand. And if you look just beyond the baby’s left ear, you will see part of the mother’s face.
Marty’s photo of the day #4446: I photographed this mother and baby elephant in the rainforest of Borneo. My camera had a small zoom lens on it, so I wasn’t as close as this looks. Nevertheless, moments after making this image, the mother turned and charged me—causing me to sprint like an Olympic gold medalist.

Marty’s photo of the day 4433: When I was in Costa Rica, I saw this bird for maybe two seconds before it took off. So this photo isn’t as crisp as what I usually post. Nevertheless, it was a new bird sighting for me. It’s a scarlet-rumped tanager.
