Marty’s photos of the day #4279-4781: Today, I’m featuring three pictures from my weekend in Chattanooga, Tennessee:
1. This morning I performed Around the World in 50 Minutes for the Parent’s Weekend Brunch at Southern Adventist University. Meal shows are usually death. For those of you who have watched the Amazon Prime series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, the first show Midge performed in Las Vegas is so, so relatable for anyone who has performed such shows. Fortunately, this show wasn’t quite like it was for Mrs. Maisel, where no one was paying attention. Instead, it was most definitely on the plus side of the scale. Some of the parents, obviously, had no idea what they were getting into, but I think I won them over. I shot this photo from the stage at the end of my show. Extra, extra special kudos to the people in the very back who know how to pose for from-the-stage-photos!
2. I was honored to have one of my favorite authors, Jeff Strand, and his artist wife, Lynne Hansen, as my guests at the show today. They’re really cool people!
3. Last night I went out to dinner with Jeff Strand and Lynne Hansen, and I previously posted the “comedy” photo from the dinner. This photo is slightly more serious (although I don’t think Jeff is capable of a totally serious pose). We exchanged sign copies of our books. I gave him a signed copy of Hits, Heathens, and Hippos: Stories from an Agent, Activist, and Adventurer, and he gave me a signed copy of Clowns vs Spiders. (Pro tip: Read Clowns vs Spiders. It’s hilarious!)
Tomorrow morning, I catch the six a.m. flight back to Missoula, via Dallas. My wife, Deb, says our dog, Nellie, spent the entire first day I was gone staring out the window, waiting for me to come home. This was just a quick trip, but I’m already eager to get home to the girls in my life—Nellie and Deb.
