Marty’s photo of the day #4100: “This is the moment I’ve been training for, Dad! I can herd them. Just tell me where you want them to go!”—Nellie
Since Nellie is one-half Australian cattle dog, she practices herding me all the time. But with real live range cows in the American Prairie Reserve, she really, really wanted to demonstrate her abilities. Range cows aren’t to be messed with, however. Deb and I still laugh about a time many years ago when we watched range cows chase a black bear across the rolling hills in another part of Montana. So with that in mind, Nellie was not allowed to herd the cows. Fortunately, she’s very good at minding when Deb and I scream, “No!” at the top of our lungs.
