Throughout my travels, I have found dozens of animal mimics, and the evolution of those species has always fascinated me. Some are harmless creatures that mimic deadly creatures; others are camouflage masters that mimic their surroundings.
With that in mind, the viceroy butterfly was a special find for me, as it mimics the monarch butterfly. Why? Monarchs taste bad and are mildly poisonous. Viceroys taste good—like a butterfly should!
