Marty’s photos of the day #4269-4272: By some quirk, Chattanooga, Tennessee has become a very special city for me. I have performed “Around the World in 90 Minutes” there four times, and a week from today, I will add a fifth performance with a show at Southern Adventist University. It’s also the only city where I have performed in front of three standing room only audiences. The first time was in 2010, when I drew a double-standing-room-only crowd at Chattanooga State Community College. For that unique show, the large lecture hall where I was to perform filled up, leaving people standing in the aisles, so the college sent the overflow to another large lecture hall and beamed the show to the second standing-room-only crowd there. I then returned to Chattanooga State Community College in 2013 for another standing-room-only show.
What does that have to do with these baseball photos? The first time I performed “Around the World in 90 Minutes” at Southern Adventist University was in 2015, the day before the Minnesota Twins’ AA minor league team, the Chattanooga Lookouts, won the Southern League Championship. I was able to score a ticket for that game, directly behind home plate. That championship game included current Twins Max Kepler and Jorge Polanco and several other players who are now in the Major Leagues.
I have something extra special planned for next week’s Chattanooga visit too, but I will save that for another post.
