Marty’s photo of the day #4038: When Deb and I moved to the Bitterroot Valley, in 1996, we could go to almost any trail and hike for hours without seeing another person. That has changed, as the valley has become a tourist destination. Even so, Deb and I still have our Secret Spot, which is located about five miles from our house. We hike there two or three times each summer, have never seen a tourist, and only rarely a local. We hiked there last night, enjoyed a peaceful dinner among the trees, and our dog, Nellie, had so much fun.
Unless I get distracted, I plan on featuring photos from the Secret Spot all week. Nellie, running through the tall grass—her floppy ears bouncing high into the air—and emerging like a baseball player in Field of Dreams is my first shot.
