Marty’s photo of the day #3814: I took this photo after midnight, in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (there was 24 hours of sunlight in June). Deb and I had canoed thirty-five miles across the refuge, and here the Jago River is a couple hundred yards from entering the Arctic Ocean (to my back in this photo). After spending the night here, we would continue into the Arctic Ocean and on to Barter Island. You can read about this adventure and others in my second book, “Endangered Edens: Exploring the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Costa Rica, the Everglades, and Puerto Rico.”
