Marty’s photo of the day #3629: For this photo I’m looking south, with the Brooks Range in the distance and the Arctic Ocean to my back. The blue tent is Deb’s and mine. We crossed the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, canoeing the Jago River from the base of the mountains to the Arctic Ocean. At first the scenery was beautiful, but the closer we got to the ocean, the colder the weather grew and the flatter the land became. I called this spot, “Camp Desolation.”
