Marty’s photo of the day #3095: Sometimes when I wake up in the morning, I know exactly what I’m going to post for my photo of the day. Other times, I search my hard drive hoping to find a special image that I completely forgot that I made. Today’s golden-mantled ground squirrel is the latter. It was in a photo file with a bunch of my bison and grizzly pictures, so all I can say about it is that I took it in Yellowstone National Park, seconds before something else distracted me. I guess that makes me the opposite of a dog, who could have been watching some amazing nature scene until suddenly, “Squirrel!”
