Marty’s photo of the day #3109: One night, I hiked through the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, which is located in the rainforest of Borneo. I heard a noise and discovered these two escapees. The rehabilitation center takes in orangutans that have been displaced or injured due to the ripping down of rainforests in favor of oil palm plantations. In most instances, the orangutans can come and go as they please and eventually become rainforest dwellers again. These two, however, were scared and unprepared for being alone in the dark forest. I made sure they got inside for the night.
