Marty’s photo of the day #2948: I’ve always called these “blue-tailed skinks,” but the correct name is “western skink.” They live around my house, but they’re difficult to photograph because they move so fast. This little guy hung around on the back of the garage just long enough for me to run into the house, race back out, realize I had too long of a lens on, and back up far enough to squeeze off a shot before he dropped to the ground and instantly disappeared under a bed of pine needles.
