Marty’s photo of the day #2951: Last week I wrote about the difficulties I’ve had photographing the wild and very shy peacock that lives on Deb’s and my property. Well, yesterday morning I was sitting in my outside office when the peacock walked right in front of me. I grabbed my camera and followed him through the woods. It’s amazing how fast a peacock can move. They can also fly, but it takes a lot of energy they would rather not use. I use a fixed telephoto lens, which meant I had to be the perfect distance away to get the entire bird in-frame, and when you add a forest full of trees to the equation, the job becomes even more difficult. I still don’t have the perfect shot, but this one really shows off his tail feathers. This fall, when he sheds those feathers, we’ll collect them for some beautiful bouquets.
Shake a tail feather!
