Marty’s photo of the day #2916: What is the most colorful bird found in Montana? My vote is for the western tanager. My writing room is on the second floor, and it has a window wall facing the mountains. Not a day goes by that some bird flying by doesn’t distract me from my work. Usually it’s a hawk or an eagle gliding passed, but yesterday this western tanager caught my eye. They are uncommon where I am, and they don’t stay in one place for long. I opened one of my windows and leaned outside to get this shot.
