Marty’s photo of the day #4394: While I’m always respectful of animals, sometimes being a wildlife photographer/writer doesn’t go as planned. Over the years, I’ve been stung by the world’s most venomous insect, bitten by a venomous snake, and attacked by a hippo (the hippo bit through the center of Deb’s and my canoe and lifted us six feet into the air). I’ve also been charged a few times. Last week, while walking the Essen Wildlife Refuge, a moose dashed in front of Deb and me before circling around and charging. And then there’s this photo of an elephant charging me in Borneo. Yeah, I ran like hell the millisecond after pushing the shutter button!
