Marty’s photo of the day #4338: Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ!

Okay, I’ve wanted to say that ever since I became a Bruce Springsteen fan back in high school. But I’m actually here.

Earlier today, I performed Around the World in 90 Minutes a little north of here at the Trailside Nature & Science Center in Mountainside, NJ. I had an enthusiastic audience in the auditorium there, and now that I have the rest of the weekend off before my Monday show at the University of Delaware, I’ve decided that rather than drive directly to Delaware that I’d indulge in some Bruce Springsteen tourism instead. I know some of the places Springsteen sings about in his songs don’t actually exist, but having grown up with his music makes me curious nonetheless.

I found the addresses for some of Springsteen’s childhood houses and someone at my show today gave me a tip on where Springsteen occasionally hangs out. And Springsteen performed a concert in Newark last night, confirming that he’s definitely home. So who knows?

Oh, God. I feel like such a groupie!

More to come.
