Marty’s photo of the day #3831: Sometimes, when I’m on college speaking tours, I fit in shows at museums and nature centers. Those shows I do for a discount, knowing I’ll get a “backstage” tour later. This is me feeding a ring-tailed lemur after a show at the Oglebay Good Zoo in West Virginia. And yes, I have mixed feelings about zoos. Generally, as long as the animals have plenty of space and are well cared for, I think they are okay. The reason is that it is often zoos that inspire future environmentalists and activists. Actually seeing an animal in the flesh can have a much bigger influence on a person than just seeing it on a smartphone or a television screen.
