Nature photography, political rants, and Martyman laughs from the ten-time award-winning author of "Cool Creatures, Hot Planet," "Endangered Edens," and the "Time Is Irreverent" series.

Photographed with my first digital camera

Marty’s photo of the day #3563: This is a white-lipped tree frog, photographed in Queensland, Australia.

Photographic note: I took this photo with my first digital camera—a Sony Mavica that recorded directly onto a mini cd. Digital cameras have come a long way since then, but I have yet to find a camera that does better for stationary close-ups at night. And even though the camera was only 4 megapixels, I have another photo of this same frog that I use in my college show. Blown up on a movie theater-sized screen, it still looks great.
