Nature photography, political rants, and Martyman laughs from the ten-time award-winning author Marty Essen

Marty’s photo of the day #3293: This is a killdeer that I photographed last past weekend near the Hogan Forest Service cabin Deb and I rented in western Montana. A pair of the birds had a nest near the cabin. The birds would put on their “broken wing” act to steer us away from the nest. And if we didn’t follow fast enough, they’d come in closer and try it again. As Deb said when one circled back and did the display eight feet away from her, “He’s a ballsy little guy.”
