Marty’s photo of the day #2992: The Amazon Rainforest is burning, and while the Amazon has experienced major fires before, I can’t help wondering how much greedy right-wing politicians and nearly 40 years of climate change denial have contributed to the devastation. With that in mind, this week I’m featuring photos I’ve taken of animals in the Amazon Rainforest—because there are some things money can’t buy!

I’m sure today’s photo made some of you cringe, but all animals (with the exception of a certain obese orange humanoid) serve a useful purpose. The rainforest is full of creepy-crawly things, like this tarantula, yet without them the surrounding ecosystem would soon stumble out of balance. And often those creatures that send a shiver up your spine are less dangerous than you think they are.
