Marty’s photo of the day #2568: Since very few of you will ever canoe across the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, I thought you might like to see what permafrost looks like from the seat of an inflatable canoe. That’s what is buckling the tundra. Also, the water I’m paddling in comes directly off a glacier. It’s so cold that the class of water is bumped up a notch because of the extra danger if you capsize.
