Bicycling with bears

Marty’s photo of the day #2310: Here’s another bear shot from the motion-sensing camera in my front yard. This one is from Saturday when, coincidentally, a bear briefly ran alongside me, shortly after I departed on my morning bicycle ride. I ride a little later on weekends than on weekdays, so there was just enough light to see the silhouette of the bear running through the woods from my position on the dirt road. Whether it was the same bear, I can’t say. What I can say is that the bears that live around our house have never been aggressive. Still, the dirt road I ride in the dark each morning has several blind curves. I either whistle or sing—horribly out of tune—a bear song I made up, so they know I’m coming.
