Baby wild turkey

Marty’s photo of the day #2202: Today, on my early morning bike ride, I noticed an adult wild turkey near the edge of the dirt road I was on. I see turkeys often, but usually they are more skittish. Then I realized this one was a mother with at least a dozen tiny chicks. I only had my pocket camera, and wanted to keep my distance, but I did get this shot of one of the chicks hiding in the grass. I’m always amazed at how quickly and easily baby animals can disappear in the underbrush.
