Marty’s photo of the day #2109: Here’s a photo of Victoria Falls from my adventure in Zimbabwe. I got very wet taking this photo, as whenever even the slightest wind blew, I’d be in my own private rainstorm. Victoria Falls is an arid region, but all around it is a tiny rainforest, with rainforest plants.
Marty’s photo of the day #2105: I’m now approximately halfway through the first draft of my political-comedy time-travel novel. I’m having so much fun writing it! I write every day, but I’m by far the most productive at night, when I turn off all the lights in the “cabin room” of our house, and write […]
Hey Donald! Two things: 1) Presidents Day isn’t all about you. 2) Maybe, just for this one day, can you act presidential? Perhaps you could lay a wreath for the victims of the Bowling Green Massacre. Or even better, perhaps you could show support for our Sweden friends during their time of crisis by sending […]
Marty’s photo of the day #2102: Last night Deb and I watched a National Geographic documentary that followed the life of a leopard. One of the humorous sections of the program was about the African squirrels that taunted the leopard when she was young—just as squirrels taunt dogs around the world. The big difference between […]

Because of the time of year, there was always some light. Still, standing on the deck of our tiny ship, […]
Now that Republicans have successfully installed Scott Pruitt as the head of the EPA, no Republican—politician or voter—must ever again claim that they give a shit about the environment, give a shit about mass extinctions, give a shit about their children, or give a shit about their grandchildren. Putting Scott Pruitt in charge of the […]
We should not be at all surprised that Republicans in Congress have once again put party before country—this time to ignore the gross incompetence, childishness, and treasonous behavior of Donald Trump and his administration. Quite literally, there is nothing these sorry excuses for human beings won’t do if it gives them power. As Republican Senator […]
Marty’s photo of the day #2097: Here’s a photo from my latest book, “Endangered Edens: Exploring the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Costa Rica, the Everglades, and Puerto Rico.” This is Fred the Eyelash Viper. He hung out near the door of our cabin during the week we were in Costa Rica. He didn’t move from […]
