Marty’s photo of the day #2039: If you’ve read either of my books, you know that Deb and I have had some great adventures together. But since I’m a morning person, and she’s not, I usually fit in a morning hike while she sleeps in. Last week two “beach dogs,” Chaco and Toby (more on them in future posts), adopted me, and would be waiting impatiently at the door of our yurt an hour before sunrise. The three of us would head out on a first-light hike into the Baja Peninsula desert.
The hour on either side of sunrise provided great light for photography, and I was always finding birds—from ravens to vultures to herons—atop giant cardón cactus (the tallest species of cactus in the world). These two ravens were kind enough to pose for me on one of those mornings.
