What is a chukar?

Marty’s photo of the day #1921: This is a type of partridge, called a chukar. These birds are native to Asia and are an introduced species in the United States. One of the many ways humans are screwing up Planet Earth is by introducing animals to areas those animals don’t belong. This chukar was on Antelope Island, and to the best of my knowledge wasn’t harming the native species. So, just maybe, no harm came from this transplant. It certainly is a beautiful bird!
